BIOGRAPHY

Elvis Costello describes her as one of R&B's most underrated singers: Bettye LaVette (real name Betty Haskins). The American soul singer was born in 1946 in Michigan.
Bettye combines soul with country, rock, funk and gospel. She released her first single, 'My Man', which became a national hit song, when she was 16. Shortly after, she toured with several great soul artists like Otis Redding and James Brown.
Bettye LaVette released 9 albums in her long career as a soul singer. In 2007 her album 'The Scene Of The Crime' came out, which was nominated for a Grammy in the category 'Best Contemporary Blues Album'.
